Angkatan laut kaum Muslimin pertama kali dibangun pada masa Khalifah Utsman bin Affan, atas pengajuan dari Gubernur Syam, Mu’awiyah bin Abi Sufyan. Mu’awiyah merasa perlu membangun angkatan laut sebab wilayahnya berbatasan langsung dengan Kekaisaran Romawi yang unggul dalam armada laut, dan wilayah Syam memang wilayah pesisir. Sejak dibangunnya angkatan laut Muslim, terlahirlah pelaut-pelaut ulung dari rahim umat Islam. Salahsatu pelaut ulung yang dikenang sepanjang masa, adalah Hayreddin Barbarossa, Si Janggut Merah. Pada masanya, dialah Penguasa Lautan.

The heroes of the Muslim Ummah have not been represented in a positive light due to the dishonest attacks of orientalists for centuries. Someone like Barbarossa is not even known to the average Muslim except as a pirate. Handri Satria does an amazing job of bringing to life the great heroic story of this great Muslim figure. Our children deserve to know the truth and to be inspired by Barbarossa and other Muslim giants that existed and walked this earth as opposed to the fake and unrealistic Spiderman and Batman that our Muslim children are busy reading. I encourage everyone to not only buy these series but to spread it to the Ummah at large.
